Kansas Wants to Help Pay the Bill to Send your Kids to College!

Kansas Investments Developing Scholars

What is K.I.D.S.?

Kansas Investments Developing Scholars (K.I.D.S.) is a matching grant program administered by the Kansas State Treasure's Office. The state of Kansas will match the first $600 of your contributions to a Learning Quest account, Kansas' 529 Education Savings Program.

2008 is the last year of this three-year pilot project and enrollment is limited to the first 1,200 applicants.

Are you Eligible?

    Participants must be Kansas residents.

    The total Federal Adjusted Gross Income for all members of the participant’s household must be less than the amounts listed below.

Household of
1 = $20,800
2 = $28,000
3 = $35,200
4 = $42,400
5 = $49,600
6 = $56,800
For each additional person in the family add $7,200

How does K.l.D.S. work?

  • Participants must establish a Learning Quest account with an initial contribution of at least $250 or an account may be opened with a $25 monthly automatic contribution from a bank account or through payroll deduction.
  • Participants must contribute at least $100 each year to receive the matching grant funds.
  • The state Treasure's office will deposit the matching grant funds in the respective match accounts each year in January.
